An act of devastation, no one had a clue
As we went along - just an ordinary day.
Thousands of innocents were taken in their prime,
As terrorists turned the blue sky smoky gray.
The towers were hit and they started to fallAnd flames consumed them wholeThe searing heat was so intenseThat it burned every American’s soul.The lives lost in that day’s horrific eventsTouched the hearts and souls of millionsAn unexpected attack, that came from the air,Orchestrated by Al-Qaida’s chameleons.All the innocent men, their lives cut shortBy a fanatical madman’s design,The torn and shattered remains of their hearts and souls,Have left only their memories behind.And all the women who’s lives where takenThey will always be missed -Their sacrifices will never be forgottenAnd our memories, of their smiles, will consist.The thousands that were lost in crumbling fire;The burning fragments and torn spirits of the lostPierce our souls to the core. To this very dayWe feel their pain and we remember the cost.Thank God for all the brave American menAnd women who fearlessly fightWith faith, patriotism and courageEven with their lives, to do what is right.They are there every day, protecting this landAnd all we hold dear, true and fineTheir vigilance gives us our freedom, and the rightTo live in a place so beautiful and sublimeOur American flag, treasured and divine,Still waves in the blissful breeze -And the majestic bald eagle, our national symbol,Still flies with the graceful wind beneath its wings.From Texas to Montana, Oregon to Maine,The tragedy and pain spread across this great nation,Engraved patriotism in our hearts, with a power over-flowingAnd united all Americans against this evil desecration.September Eleventh, a date we’ll never forget;So many victims, and their families in pain -So many heroes who paid the ultimate priceDoing jobs from which they couldn’t abstain.This is to the brave soldiers, who still risk their lives,Who battle to the death every dayTo protect all of us and the country that they loveThank God for those courageous men and women;
... God bless the U.S.A!
