10 Years Ago...

My Better Half, Sandi
* I Love You - Now, And Always *
Ten years ago we made a vow,
     In front of god and man;
A promise that someday, somehow,
     Together we would stand.

For ten sweet years we’d shared our love,
     Our kids, our dogs, our life;
And on that day I was so proud
     To finally make you my wife.

I haven’t met all the goals that I set
     Or kept all of my promises to you,
But with love and faith and belief in us
     We’ll make our dreams come true.

I know I don’t say it quite often enough,
     So I’ll make it loud and clear;
For being a mother, a friend, a lover,
     And making me whole, thank you dear.

Sometimes at night I watch you sleep
     And it almost makes me cry;
You share my life, my world, my name –
     I’m the world’s luckiest guy.

Simple words cannot express
     The feelings you inspire;
My love is such a part of me;
     A sweet and potent fire.

My love for you is stronger now
     Than ever it was before –
If the passion seems to be less intense,
     Hey – I’m no teenager anymore!

The journey we started a long time ago
     Is nowhere near its end,
You give me strength and hope and joy
     And you’re still my very best friend.

We’ve been through lots of ups and downs,
     And through it all I’ve found
The only times that are tough to face
     Are when you’re not around.

I’ve made mistakes, met failure too,
     But you never seemed to care;
And when I needed a word, a smile,
     Or a kiss, you were always there.

I wish that I could buy you things,
     But the money’s been kind of tight,
So instead I offer my heart and soul,
     Each day and every night.

Twenty years ago I told myself
     Your beauty I had to have;
I’m just glad our kids got their looks from you,
     And not from their dear old dad!
